Need a plumber after 5 pm in Cleveland?
Most shops are closed by the time you're home from work. Here's what can wait, what can't, and how to get an evening appointment without taking a day off.

Why it's hard to find a plumber after work
Plenty of plumbing companies keep strict 8-to-4 or 8-to-5 schedules. That works if someone's home all day — but most people discover the slow drain, the running toilet or the lukewarm shower when they get home in the evening. By then, the office is closed and the next opening means taking time off work.
That's why Perfect Fit Plumbing offers evening appointments by request, 7 days a week, on top of our regular 8am–5pm hours. You get a time that works around your job, not the other way around.
What can wait until a scheduled appointment
A lot of plumbing problems are annoying but not urgent. These are usually safe to book for a convenient evening or weekend time:
- A slow sink, tub or shower drain that still drains
- A dripping faucet or a toilet that runs now and then
- Low water pressure at one fixture
- A new faucet, fixture or appliance you'd like installed
- A water heater that's getting older but still works
What shouldn't wait
Some problems get worse — and more expensive — every hour. Get help right away for:
- Water actively leaking from a pipe, ceiling or wall
- A sewer or drain backup coming up into the house
- No water at all
- A leaking water heater
- A frozen or burst pipe
What to do before the plumber gets there
- Shut off the water. If water is leaking, turn off your main shutoff valve — usually where the water line enters the house, often in the basement near the meter. Turn it clockwise, or turn the lever a quarter-turn.
- Protect your belongings. Move valuables and rugs away from the water and put towels or a bucket down.
- Turn off the water heater if it's leaking. Close the cold-water valve on top of the tank. For a gas heater, set it to "pilot" or "off"; for electric, switch off its breaker.
- Take a few photos. Pictures of the leak and the area around it help us bring the right parts — and can help with an insurance claim.
